Introduction

At Womanhood Today, we’re on a mission to challenge outdated stereotypes, uplift diverse voices, and reshape what it means to be a woman in the modern world. Our podcast, Womanhood Today, isn’t just about conversation—it’s about transformation. By educating our audience on critical issues, we aim to break down the harmful barriers of misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia while offering representation that truly matters. So, what can you expect from Womanhood Today? Let’s dive in.

Why Womanhood Today Is Important

None of us is alone in the fight for equality.

In today’s fast-paced world, harmful stereotypes and outdated notions about gender and identity still persist. Unfortunately, many people are judged, shamed, or dismissed simply because they don’t fit within society’s narrowly defined norms. Whether it’s the idea that women belong in traditional roles, or the pervasive belief that those who identify as LGBTQIA+ are abnormal or perverted, these harmful concepts continue to cause damage.

Womanhood Today exists to educate and elevate. We believe that by having open, honest conversations, we can help people understand that the diversity of human experience is something to be celebrated, not shamed.

  • Reducing Misogyny: We aim to shed light on the various ways women are still subject to harmful gender roles and stereotypes. Through education, we hope to foster a greater understanding of the importance of equality and respect for all women.
  • Representation Matters: One of our core beliefs is that everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in society. This podcast will feature stories from women of all walks of life—LGBTQIA+ women, trans women, women of different races and backgrounds, and more—because representation isn't just nice to have, it's vital for true equality.
  • Reducing Homophobia and Transphobia: By educating people about gender identity and sexual orientation, we aim to dispel the harmful myths that fuel discrimination. We’ll break down what terms like trans, non-binary, queer, and asexual really mean, so our listeners can gain a better understanding and respect for those who identify differently.
  • Explaining Terms and Reducing Pejoratives: Many terms that describe gender identity and sexual orientation are misunderstood or used incorrectly as slurs. Our goal is to clarify what these terms mean and explain why they are not derogatory. Words matter, and understanding the power behind them can lead to more respectful and inclusive conversations.
  • Challenging Societal Norms: Those who don’t fit traditional gender roles or societal expectations are often labeled as abnormal or perverse. Womanhood Today seeks to challenge these beliefs by educating people on the value of diversity. Just because someone doesn’t fit into a societal box doesn’t mean they don’t belong—on the contrary, they enrich the world with their unique perspectives and experiences.

What Topics Will We Cover?

Not he, not she, just me.
Gender Identity goes to the heart of who we are as individuals!

  • Gender Identity and Sexuality: We’ll explore terms like transnon-binaryasexual, and queer to help our listeners understand the nuances of gender and sexuality.

  • Representation and Media: How women, particularly LGBTQIA+ women, women of color, and non-conforming women, are portrayed in media—and why it matters.

  • Mental Health and Gender: The mental health challenges faced by women and gender-diverse individuals, including the impact of societal norms on their well-being.

  • Overcoming Stereotypes: Breaking down harmful beliefs about women’s roles, LGBTQIA+ identities, and what it means to live authentically.
